Metal Specifications:
Most items can be produced in cold rolled (unfinished/raw) STEEL, BRASS, COPPER and ALUMINUM. Items can also be run in other metals (Stainless Steel-for solid bandings only; Zinc; Pre-Finished Steel; Pre-Polished Brass; etc.). Minimum quantities will apply when producing items in "special" metals. We will gladly process your supplied metal coils - please call/email us for coil specifications and pricing. Below are the specifications for the metal used in the manufacturing of our decorative designs:
- Steel (Raw & Unfinished) - Cold Rolled Carbon Steel, Matte Finish; soft.
- Brass (Raw & Unfinished) - 70/30 Cartridge Brass, Alloy 260, soft to 1/4 hard.
- Aluminum (Raw & Unfinished) - 5052 Alloy Aluminum, H32.
- Copper (Raw & Unfinished) - 110 Alloy Copper, 1/4 hard.
- Stainless Steel - 304 Alloy Stainless Steel, Annealed soft.
During the manufacturing process, some metals are coated with a water-soluble oil (Gem Soluble Oil). This oil prevents the metal material from sticking to our tools and prevents the same tools from overheating during production. The oil will help protect the metal from exposure to the elements and will be a coffee-brown in color when it dries.
Product specifications, dimensions, weights, etc. are kept as up to date as possible but are also subject to change without notice. There might be slight dimensional variations due to raw material supplied. For specific product information or measurements, a representative should be contacted. The Frank Morrow Company makes no warranty respecting the merchantability of the products or their suitability or fitness for any particular purpose or use.
Thicker Metal / Heavier Gauge Items:
Our items are normally stocked in 24/25 gauge (0.020"/0,5mm) thickness. Many (not all) items can be produced in thicknesses of 21 gauge (0.032"/0,8mmm); and a smaller number in 18 gauge (0.050"/1,3mm); and 16 gauge (0.062"/1,5mm). Please see Gauge Chart below for thickness/gauge comparisons for different metals.

Oxidation:
Frank Morrow Company products are shipped from the factory in their raw (unfinished) material form with a thin coat of water-soluble, oil-based lubricant that will retard oxidation (rust, tarnish or patina). This lubricant will protect items to a certain point but the exact timeframe on when items start to oxidize will depend on a number of factors, including humidity in the storage area and how they are stored. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the "non-oxidizing" shelf life for any of the items. The stampings are normally stored in fiber drums without covers and the trims stacked in coils on skids for as long as ten years without any oxidation occurring. However, if stored in a closed container, frequently handled, exposed to damp air currents or piled above the rim of a barrel, the items will start to oxidize.
